About the Institute
Institute of Economics and Rural Development
The aim and task of the Institute is to provide up-to-date knowledge in agricultural economics and rural development in line with national and international trends, enabling future agricultural professionals to provide professional responses to the economic and social challenges of agriculture and rural development, thereby serving the domestic agricultural economy and contributing to the development of rural areas.
Over the past years, the Institute's training portfolio has been continuously expanded, enabling it to offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The subjects taught focus on agro-economics and rural development, in line with the Institute's profile.

The Institute places great emphasis on practice-oriented training, within the framework of which it strives to maintain continuous professional contact with the dual and cooperative enterprise partners and professional organisations of the Hódmezővásárhely region and the South Great Plain region.
On July 1, 2020, the Rural Development Research Group was established within the framework of the Institute, whose main objective is to study current rural development issues affecting the Southern Great Plain region and the impact of the agricultural economy on rural development. The research group regularly involves lecturers, researchers and talented students interested in the field.
