“You are lucky to be studying at one of the best universities in Hungary and to have chosen one of the most beautiful professions. Make friends, get to know each other, because one of the most important things in life is a network of relationships. Get to know the people you can turn to when you are stuck, when you are unsure, or when you need to share your joy with someone. Strive to know yourself, to help those who are stuck or unsure, and to rejoice in the success of the other. If I could put only one thing in your bag, it would be to never believe your eyes, never accept everything unconditionally, always have questions, be curious, don't be afraid to ask what you don't understand or what you are unsure about. Asking is the first step to learning and growing. Every great innovation started with a question. The questions asked today may be the ones that can answer the future"- said Edit MIKÓ, dean.

After the student pledge, Edit MIKÓ, dean of the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture, welcomed the first-year students with a handshake, and then Péter MÁRKI-ZAY, the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely City, gave a welcome speech.

He added that the location of the ceremony, the 130-year-old City Hall, is a worthy pride for Hódmezővásárhely, a Hungarian city with one of the largest areas and basically based on agriculture. Péter MÁRI-ZAY, mayor, wished the students success in their academic work. He added that those sitting here should not forget that, as students dealing with agriculture, it is up to their generation to find a solution to the increasingly pressing problems of climate change.

“Being close to nature was given for me, for example, I have been fishing since I was a child, so I first applied for the bachelor's program in wildlife management because of the proximity to nature and the dignity of hunting. My godfather hunts, he was employed by one of the local hunting companies, but I had no other family ties to hunting, I am primarily interested in wildlife management," added Kristóf KOCSIS, a first-year student.
