The aim of the graduate (MSc) program is to train agricultural professionals who are suitable and capable of applying the agricultural (crop production, horticulture, animal husbandry, agricultural economics, etc.), natural science and economic knowledge acquired in the master's degree at a high level of synthesis in the field of sustainable agricultural production. In addition to production, management, organizational or control positions in companies, offices, authorities or their own businesses, graduates are suitable for research work in various fields of agricultural sciences, as well as for participation in doctoral training and special further training programs.


The program consists of 4 academic semesters. In the the first semester, the focus is on broadening the knowledge gained in the course of BSc studies via courses such as production physiology, applied plant physiology, applied biochemistry, applied soil science, applied plant genetics and plant biotechnology, population genetics and animal farming technology. The subsequent semesters provide detailed knowledge in the fields of plant (integrated field crop production, integrated horticulture production, nutrient management and irrigation, application of integrated pest management), animal (integrated animal husbandry, breeding organization, animal product certification), economic (agricultural marketing, crop production sector economics, animal husbandry sectoral economics, business management, project management), and interdisciplinary (research methodology, environmental management) sciences. The studies are complemented by a comprehensive practice of 4 weeks in the 3rd semester, and compulsory elective courses in each semester.


Research projects carried out in the laboratories of the faculty, at various enterprises or research institutes under the guidance of designated supervisors will lead to the preparation of the MSc thesis that has to be publicly defended. The program ends up with a comprehensive final exam.

Bachelor’s programmes accepted for admission to the master’s programme:

  • Accepted with full credit transfer: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering
  • Bachelor’s programmes primarily considered for admission, with the completion of credits specified: Agricultural and Business Digitalization; Environmental Management Agricultural Engineering; Crop Production Engineering; Animal Breeding Engineering; Horticultural Engineering; Agricultural Informatics and Administration Engineering; Agricultural Water Management and Environmental Technology Engineering; Precision Agriculture Engineering; Rural Development Agricultural Engineering; Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Engineering; Nature Conservation Engineering; Food Engineering; Wildlife Management Engineering

 

Language requirements:

A demonstrated proficiency in English language (intermediate level: B2, IELTS 5.0 or equivalent – language exam not required), exam certificate (if available) must be presented at application. English knowledge is tested at entrance exam

3,000 EUR per semester
