The tax ID (Adószám) is obligatory for SH scholarship holders, for self-payed students it is only necessary if they wish to work as a student.

Students can apply for Tax ID at the TAX Office/ NAV Csongrád Megyei Adó- és Vámigazgatósága – Szegedi központi ügyfélszolgálat in Szeged.

Necessary documents for the application:

• passport
• visa
• Active Student Status Certificate (issued by the Student Registration Office)

Please note that during any administrative process in Hungary, administrators will also ask you for the following personal details:

• given and family name
• date of birth
• place of birth (country and town/city)
• mother’s maiden name (aka family name before marriage)
• nationality
