The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Szeged is set to host its second International Erasmus Week from 12 to 16 May 2025. The programme will officially begin on 12 May in the Fekete Sas Event Hall, where the Faculty will welcome participants with a presentation starting at 10:00 a.m. This opening session will introduce the Faculty and provide insights into the key features of Hungarian agriculture.
In the framework of the five-day event, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities, including networking sessions, good practice sharing workshops, professional programmes, conferences, informal lunches and dinners, in line with the spirit of the ERASMUS+ programme as experienced during last year’s event.
In addition to academic and professional activities, the programme includes rich cultural and natural experiences. Attendees can enjoy a walk along the Nature Trail of the Mártély Landscape Conservation Area, visit the horticultural facilities of Árpád-Agrár Zrt. in Szegvár, and explore the open-air museum, herb and medicinal garden at the Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park. The programme also features a guided tour of Hódmezővásárhely, including visits to the János Tornyai Museum, the Town Hall, and its tower lookout, as well as a sightseeing tour of Szeged and a visit to the University's Botanical Garden.
As part of the International Erasmus Week, the Faculty of Agriculture will also host the 22nd Wellmann International Scientific Conference on 15 May 2025 - a longstanding international event that this year will focus on the theme “Sustainable Agriculture and the Environment in a Changing World.”
The conference will open at 10:00 a.m. in the Fekete Sas Event Hall with plenary sessions, alongside a poster exhibition showcasing current research. In the afternoon, the programme will continue with six parallel thematic sessions held at the Faculty of Agriculture, allowing researchers and participants to delve into specific topics related to sustainability and environmental challenges in agriculture. The day will conclude with a Gala Dinner, once again hosted in the elegant setting of the Fekete Sas Ballroom.
Erasmus Week also offers a valuable opportunity for teachers, researchers, and students from countries participating in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility project (KA171) awarded to the Faculty of Agriculture in 2022 - to engage with their Hungarian counterparts. Delegations from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, as well as other Erasmus+ partner institutions from Türkiye, France and other countries to get acquainted with the Faculty and its educational research activities and to gain insights into the situation of the Hungarian agricultural sector. This year, the Erasmus Week is expected to welcome around 30 participants, while the Wellmann International Scientific Conference has attracted more than 100 registered attendees.
