The program series were organized by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Szeged and the opening event took place at the Black Eagle Event Hall.
In 2022, we won the Erasmus+ mobility project, within the framework of which we will implement the event for the second time. The essence of this is that participants will come to us from the North African countries concerned: Morocco, Tunisia, as well as from other countries, e.g. from France, Romania and Turkey. We expect about thirty foreign participants, supplemented by the six students completing their internships with us, who came from Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria,” said Peter JANI Ph.D., head of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Agriculture, SZTE.
He added that a full week-long program has been planned for the international guests. The first three days will include professional and cultural events, on the fourth day, the traditional event of the Faculty of Agriculture of SZTE, the Wellmann International Scientific Conference will be held and on Friday, another professional day will await the participants.
“We tried to put together the programs in such a way that we also took into account the profile of the participants. Unfortunately, the hoof-and-mouth disease epidemic intervened. Similar to last year, this year we planned a visit to the National Stud Farm and Training Farm in Mezőhegyes, but unfortunately we were unable to do this due to the epidemic risk, so the locations related to animal husbandry were removed from the program this year. Instead, we will visit a horticulture farm, a botanical garden, and the Ópusztaszer National Historical Memorial Park. Today, after the introductory lectures, we will visit the Mártély Educational Trail.” – said Peter JANI, head of the Dean’s office.
The Erasmus Week was open not only to researchers but also to students, so there were those who were attracted by the presentations on the first day sharing good practices.
"I arrived in Hungary at the beginning of March and will return to Algeria on 30th May. My field of expertise is precision farming, and I came to the Faculty of Agriculture of SZTE to put into practice what I learned at home. Erasmus Week offers a good alternative for exchanging experiences," said Halima MERABET, a student at the University Oran 1 – Ahmed Ben Bella in Algeria, who came to the Faculty of Agriculture of SZTE for an internship.
