Eighteen different programmes will take you through the building of Faculty of Agriculture on Friday 27 September 2024 from 17.00 onwards at the Researchers' Night.
The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Szeged is offering interesting programmes for all ages at this year's Researchers' Night. In the opening lecture, entitled "Mosaics from the years of the Higher Agricultural College", the history of the Higher Agricultural College will be recalled, drawing on archival documents.
In the session "Make everyday life more colourful with beetroot", visitors can learn about different beetroot products. In the Banana smoothie - extracting DNA from plant cells, visitors can extract DNA from bananas using a simple process. Visitors can also take part in an interactive Drone Demonstration, but they can acquire new knowledge at the "Interesting countryside! Rural curiosities' or the 'Hungaricums up close" exhibition with a quiz. A guided tour of the Trophy Room, a special feature of Hódmezővásárhely, will also introduce visitors to the role of game meat in game management.
This year, we will also be presenting our popular programmes the Milky Way - From the Cow to Table, the Applied Pathology and the Herbal Tea Tasting.
"Mysteries in Cowland" will take a look at small-scale dairy farming and milk processing from a woman's perspective. In "Animal treats", you can learn how to make reward treats for pets big and small. Among other things, visitors will also be able to follow "Where pollen comes from and where it goes".
Learn about a type of perfume making; essential oils as the basic materials for perfumes.
The wonderful world of bees will be revealed in a demonstration of the well-established social system of bee colonies.
Someone has eaten from the feed store. Can you guess who did it? The identification, presentation and microscopic examination of hair, wool and feather samples will help you find the answer.
Kosher horticulture: a demonstration of sweet pepper cultivation will also play an important role in the 2024 Researchers' Night programme of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Szeged. After last year's success, the Aquaponics in Practice station will be back, where visitors will be able to attend a lecture on the principles of aquaponics, the rules for stocking fish and plants, and then visit the aquaponics system in the institution.
A taster will be available at the entrance on arrival.
