For the first time, from 15th April until 19th of April the USZ, Faculty of Agriculture organized the series of events called Erasmus week.
Guests came primarily from North Africa. Within the framework of the Faculty’s Erasmus+ credit mobility program, teachers, researchers and PhD students came to Hódmezővásárhely from Algeria, Tunisia and Moroccan partner institutions and from Martinique as well.
„The series of events started on Monday at the Black Eagle Event Hall. This was the day of getting to know each other and networking.
On Tuesday there was a professional study trip, we visited Mezőhegyes, the National Stud Farm. On Wednesday, the participants could take part in a cultural and professional program, we visited the National Heritage Park in Ópusztaszer and we also had programs in various units of the University, including the Klebelsberg Library and the Botanic Garden.” – said Peter JANI Ph.D., head of the Dean’s office at the USZ, Faculty of Agriculture.
Katalin KARIKÓ, the Nobel-Prize-winning research professor of the University of Szeged, took part in an unusual plant study class for university students in the USZ Botanic Garden.
The Algerian, Moroccan and Tunisian professionals who came to the Erasmus week of the Faculty of Agriculture, could join to the program of the more than 100-year-old university Botanic Garden and could marvel at its beauty. The international guests and students were happy to take selfies with Professor Katalin KARIKÓ.
On Thursday, the traditional scientific event of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Wellmann International Scientific Conference, also took place here in Hódmezővásárhely. Friday was a free day, when the participants could visit our city and its surroundings, as well as the capital," said Peter JANI Ph.D.
Mehdi Ben Mimoun came from the Agricultural University of Tunis in Tunisia to the Erasmus week, he is mainly interested in cultivation technology and plant protection from the program of the Wellmann International Scientific Conference.
“Colleagues from the USZ Faculty of Agriculture have already visited us before, and now we have reciprocated this visit," said Mehdi Ben Mimoun, one of the program's participants.
The head of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Agriculture pointed out that in the first three days, about 30 participants came to the Erasmus week, and on Thursday, more than 120 people registered for the Wellmann International Scientific Conference.
