“Our oldest recent graduate is 57 years old, which is a very young age, because we can practically study even at the age of 100. This is our second graduation ceremony this year, because due to the six-month engineering internship, the main graduation ceremony for undergraduate programs is held in the fall term at the Faculty, at which we were able to welcome 90 new graduates this year. Now, primarily our students who graduated from higher education vocational training, master's programs, and specialized further education programs have obtained their degrees, and those who were still missing some subject in the previous period to obtain their diploma in undergraduate programs have been given the opportunity to complete their studies in the summer,” said Edit MIKÓ, Ph.D., dean.

She highlighted that today's agricultural professionals want to remedy the consequences of climate change, find new varieties and new solutions, which is why many of them are returning to school at an older age to study and refresh their previously acquired knowledge as engineers.

After taking the engineering oath, the new graduates received their diplomas at the hand of Professor Endre Szilárd CZÓBEL, General Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Szeged, and then Edit MIKÓ, Dean, welcomed the new graduates as engineers with a handshake.

On behalf of the graduates, the agricultural engineer Fanni CZENE said goodbye. The recent graduate, was naturally interested in agriculture due to her family’s farm, which is why she chose the Faculty of Agriculture of the SZTE as the venue for her higher education. She recalled the years spent here with emotion:

We are a small community, which created a fantastic, familiar atmosphere. We knew each other by name and the teachers knew us too. This Faculty has given me a lot professionally, both from a practical and theoretical point of view. I am currently taking a break from studying for a while, as I will start working on a pig farm next week, but later, when I have time and energy besides work, I would like to develop professionally and continue my studies,” said Fanni CZENE, agricultural engineer.

Fanni is currently trying to help their family farm, which grows garlic, parsley, wheat and corn, by sharing the knowledge she has learned about environmentally friendly farming, but she would also like to join in the joint work in the future.

We warmly congratulate all students who have earned their diplomas!
