SZTE Faculty of Agriculture - Researchers' Night 2025

On Friday, September 26, 2025, beginning at 6:00 PM, the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture will open its doors to the public as part of the annual Researchers' Night. This year’s event promises an engaging evening filled with discovery, offering a total of twenty-two diverse and interactive programs.Visitors of all ages are invited to explore the world of agricultural science through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and presentations designed to spark curiosity and encourage learning.


HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT INCLUDE:


The Voice of Horses: This program will guide participants through the world of equine acoustic communication.


Wild Gastronomy, From Forest to Table: Join a cooking session in the faculty's courtyard, where you can taste dishes made from wild game meat.


Herbal Treatments for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD/RAO) in Horses: Visitors can learn about herbal remedies for the treatment, prevention, and management of "heaves" in horses.


The Secret World of Carrier Pigeons: This presentation will cover interesting facts about the keeping, training, and technology behind these unique animals.


Applied Pathology: Using post-mortem examinations of deceased animals, this program will demonstrate how to protect living animals from various ailments.


The Milky Way: From Cow to Table: Our traditional program returns this year, offering cheese tasting and a milk-themed quiz.


"Dogs, Cats, and Good Food": Learn how to prepare special treats for your beloved pets.


Why Is Pollen a Growing Hazard?: This program will raise awareness about the health issues caused by ragweed.


Hungarikum’s Night: Open to international visitors, this program focuses on unique characteristics and specialties of Hungarian culture.


In the Footsteps of Nomadic Herders: Learn about the lifestyle of ancient nomadic peoples and their impact on the environment of the Kiskunság sand dunes.


Aquaponics in Practice: Participants will learn the principles of aquaponics, including the rules for stocking fish and plants, and then see the faculty's operational aquaponics system.


The Wonderful World of Floral Waters: Find answers to questions like, "How are floral waters born?" and "How can we use hydrolates in natural skincare?" You can test your scent recognition skills and try special floral waters through a sensory examination.


Secrets of Witches' Kitchens: This program will take visitors on a journey into the world of witches and poisonous plants.


Interactive Drone Demonstration: Join us in the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture courtyard for a drone demonstration.


Herbs in the Garden: This program, also available for international visitors, offers a chance to get to know common garden herbs and sample various herbal teas.

 

Grow Your Own Baby-Leaf Greens at Home – Microgreen Tasting: Learn a technological method for producing fresh vegetables in low-light conditions using LED lamps, even at home.


Banana Smoothie: DNA Extraction from Plant Cells: Visitors will learn a simple method for extracting DNA from a banana.


Kosher Cultivation: An Introduction to Paprika Farming: This program will play a significant role in the 2025 Researchers' Night at the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture.


Essential Oil Extraction Methods: After a short presentation on how essential oils are made, visitors can handle and smell various oil samples.


"Keep Your Eyes on the Seeds!": Participants can learn about the characteristics of cultivated and weed seeds, along with some cultural and ethnographic facts, and even create art from seeds.


Plants Under the Cover of Darkness: Take a surprise-filled twilight walk to discover the interesting plants in and around the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture courtyard.

 

Upon arrival, all visitors will be welcomed with a complimentary tasting at the entrance.
